Hi, Barbra friends -- How are you? Hope you're having a good week. I'm hanging in there... feeling pretty well.  I've been busy writing about Barbra online HERE -- as Barbra Streisand Examiner.com columnist, so please bookmark the site and check it a few times during the week.

I just finished my latest Barbra Streisand Vidcast -- this is #4 if you're keeping count. I'm taking suggestions if anyone has ideas for what we should call the videos... Do you think Barbra had this problem when she started making albums??

The Third Barbra Streisand Vidcast - 1/14/12

Why 'For Pete's Sake'?

I realized something over the weekend; of all the films Barbra's made -- and she should have made more -- the most innocuous may be "For Pete's Sake." Seriously, the silly summer comedy is more famous for being the movie that brought Barbra together with Jon Peters than anything else. She needed a short haircut and wanted a wig; Jon created it. They met and fireworks went off.

But what about "For Pete's Sake"? Well, not much. It was Marty Erlichman's first credit as executive producer, so Barbra was doing something for her personal manager. And it was a chance to be directed by Peter Yates, who did better work on films like "Breaking Away" and "The Dresser." And, if you want to get nostalgic, it was probably Barbra's last time spending time in Brooklyn. They filmed there for about a week.

So, while it's fashionable for Barbra fans to kvetch about "All Night Long," maybe it was "For Pete's Sake" that really is Barbra's biggest waste of time. Coming after "What's Up, Doc?" and "The Way We Were," before "Funny Lady" and "A Star Is Born," she probably should have done something better.

Barbra's Holiday…and My Happy Rosh Hoshanah, Too

So, tonight's the first night of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hoshanah. I wonder where will Barbra be enjoying the holiday? It's the time to usually get together with family and friends to share dinner and wish each other a Happy Rosh Hoshanah! (Remember the scene in "The Way We Were" -- Katie and Hubbell in bed?)

Anyway, I'm wondering if Barbra is still in New York -- where she was spotted at the theater over the weekend with hubby James Brolin -- will they be having the New Year celebration with family and/or friends? Is it going to be a fancy festive feast at Donna Karan's…or something with her brother Sheldon, sister Roslyn and son Jason?

As for me, I'm off to family for our usual get together -- I'm making the chopped liver and garlic mashed potatoes and hoping my sister Ellen doesn't kill the pot roast like she did last year!

Anyway, too all friends and Barbra 'family' on this board, L'Shana Tovah! I'm recommending that everyone enjoy a listen of Barbra's "Avinu Malkeinu" or watch "Yentl" and hope and pray for a good New Year for all of us!
