Streisand Live In Concert 2006 2007

Streisand Live In Concert 2006  2007
Barbra third concert tour, following The Concert and Timeless, continued Barbra's penchant for sharing her life with her fans through the music. Reminiscing about Funny Girl on Broadway and in the movies, Barbra charmingly offered songs that she'd never done live in concert like "Funny Girl" and "The Music That Makes Me Dance." Backed by four strong male singers, Il Divo, Barbra continued delivering the big, booming ballads like "Somewhere" and "The Music of the Night." There were memory songs from early in her career like "Starting Here, Starting Now" and "Ma Premiere Chanson," her very first song as a composer from Je M'appelle Barbra. But it was the poignancy of song from quite early in her career, "Have I Stayed Too Long at the Fair," that was a revelation, and her reading of a few new songs like "Unusual Way" and "My Shining Hour" (finding yet another lovely Harold Arlen beauty) that was truly special. Whether you were there or not, Live in Concert 2006 was a joyful experience. Undiscovered gem: the late Peter Matz's exciting arrangement to frame Barbra's unconventional take on "Cockeyed Optimist" from South Pacific.
