Higher Ground 1997
Higher Ground 1997
When word spread that Barbra Streisand was going to do a spiritual album, some people thought it was a goof. Streisand singing "Amazing Grace" -- ha, ha, ha! Well, Barbra wasn't kidding. She opted not to do "Amazing Grace," but she was inspired by the gospel music she heard at her friend, Virginia Kelley's (President Clinton's mother) funeral in Arkansas, to explore this kind of music. Unlike other singers, though, Barbra had a broader definition of inspirational music. The one song that has nothing to do with the album's theme is the popular duet she did with Celine Dion, "Tell Him." Undiscovered gem: "If I Could," another song for Jason
