Unusual Clear Day Art - May 29, 2012

Unusual Clear Day Art - May 29, 2012

What happened with the artwork for On A Clear Day? In America, for whatever reason, the 1970 poster (and soundtrack) image to sell the film was a flower -- with Barbra's head stuck in a flower pot! You can't blame the poster for the film or LP not taking off, but it is a curiosity. Recently, I stumbled upon this foreign poster, which is a cartoon depiction of the characters from Clear Day, although they made Barbra look cross-eyed and gave Yves Montand the legs of Louis Jourdan!

For the soundtrack album in America, a different ad ran in Billboard. Frankly, I liked it better -- a shot of Barbra as Melinda in the orphanage. And the ad copy! It reads in part, "There's always some part of us locked up inside. For Daisy Gamble, it's Melinda Wainwhisle fighting to get out. The nicest part of this fight is that Barbra Streisand plays both sides."

Now that's clever! At least I think so, what do you think? Email me with your thoughts and let's have a talk about it. Look into my site! barbfile@aol.com
