Duets 2002
Duets 2002
Just in time for the holidays, Columbia and Barbra collected all of her duets over the years into compilation CD called…Duets. And like most of the other Barbra compilations, this one comes with a couple of new additions. Overall, the duets all sound wonderful, thanks to excellent remastering. With a bit of perspective on all this music, Barbra truly shines on the best material, like her pairings with Judy Garland, Barry Gibb, Neil Diamond, Ray Charles and herself! Of the new duets, the Barry Manilow collaboration -- "I Won't Be the One to Let Go" -- is a very good pop song and they blend nicely. But it's the soaring, aria-like duet with Josh Groban, "All I Know of Love," that's the high point of the CD. It's a challenging, complicated, demanding and passionate piece, the kind of song that leaves you wanting more.
